Quick answer

Can a Florida Business Document Be Apostilled?

Yes—if the document follows the correct Florida route. Public corporate records generally need an original certified copy or Certificate of Status. Private business documents may need proper Florida notarization. A plain Sunbiz printout or ordinary photocopy is not enough.

Correct Document Format

Use an eligible state-certified corporate record or a properly notarized original, depending on the document.

Reviewed Before Payment

Upload a clear scan first so we can check the document type, certification, visible signatures, and next step.

For Use Abroad

The destination country and receiving authority decide which corporate record, issue date, translation, and legalization path they require.

Start with a scan—not the mail. We review your document before payment and send the confirmed service option, Order ID, payment link, and mailing instructions.

Corporate and LLC records

What Florida Business Documents Can Be Apostilled?

Eligibility depends on who issued or signed the document, where it was issued or notarized, and the destination country. We review the exact document before filing.

Formation and State Filings

  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Articles of Organization
  • Certified amendments
  • Merger or dissolution filings
  • Filed annual reports

Status and Authority Records

  • Certificate of Status
  • Certificate of Good Standing
  • Certificate of Incumbency

  • Certified Sunbiz records

Private Business Documents

  • Corporate resolutions
  • Board minutes
  • Bylaws and operating agreements
  • Commercial agreements
  • Business powers of attorney
A document appearing on this list is not automatically ready. State-filed records and privately signed documents follow different preparation rules. Upload the complete document so we can identify the correct route.

The most important distinction

Certified Corporate Record or Notarized Business Document?

Florida does not prepare every business document the same way. The correct route depends on whether the document is a public state record or a privately created company document.

Florida public record

State-Certified Corporate Document

Articles, amendments, dissolution records and similar filings generally require an original certified copy issued by the Florida Division of Corporations. A Certificate of Status is itself an official state record.

  • Do not notarize the state official's signature
  • Do not use an ordinary Sunbiz printout
  • Confirm the foreign authority wants this exact record
Private company document

Original With Florida Notarization

Resolutions, bylaws, operating agreements, board minutes and commercial agreements may follow a notarized-document route when signed and properly notarized in Florida.

  • Use a complete Florida notarial certificate
  • Original notary signature, stamp and seal are required
  • The signer—not the notary—confirms the document's contents

Frequent business-document question

Does a Business Document Need to Be Notarized Before Apostille?

Not always. A Florida-certified corporate filing or Certificate of Status generally follows the public-record route and should not be re-notarized. A private corporate document may require proper Florida notarization before it can be apostilled.

  • Florida Certificate of Status
  • Certified Articles of Incorporation
  • Certified Articles of Organization
  • Certified amendments or dissolution filings

May Require Notarization

  • Corporate resolutions and board minutes

Avoid preventable delays

Common Florida Corporate Apostille Mistakes

Business-document requests are often delayed because the wrong version, issuing state, certification or notarial certificate was used.

Plain Sunbiz Printout

An ordinary online printout is not the original certified copy required for a public corporate record.

Wrong Document Type

A foreign bank may want a Certificate of Status while a registry may request certified Articles. They are not interchangeable.

Incomplete Notarization

A private document may fail when the notarial statement, venue, signature, stamp or seal is missing.

Wrong State

Florida ordinarily cannot apostille a corporate record issued by another state.

Incomplete Document

Missing signature pages, exhibits or certification sheets can create filing or acceptance problems.

Wrong Country Route

A non-Hague destination may require authentication and consular legalization instead of an apostille.

Cross-border business

Why Do Companies Need Apostilled Business Documents?

A foreign bank, registry, regulator, attorney or business partner may request authenticated evidence of a Florida company's formation, status or signing authority.

Foreign Company Registration

Registering a Florida corporation or LLC to conduct business in another country.

International Banking

Opening or updating a corporate bank account and completing compliance review.

Ownership and Authority

Showing who may sign, represent or act for the company.

Contracts and Transactions

Supporting cross-border agreements, financing, real-estate or commercial transactions.

Licensing and Tenders

Providing company records for foreign licensing, bids or regulatory filings.

Mergers and Due Diligence

Authenticating formation, status or authority records during corporate review.

An apostille authenticates the public signature or notarial act; it does not approve the company or guarantee foreign acceptance. The receiving authority decides what documents and translations it requires.

Destination-country review

Florida Business Document Apostille by Destination Country

Enter the country where the Florida business document will be used. A foreign registry, bank or regulator may specify the exact corporate record, issue date, translation and legalization route.

Using the document in another country? Start the review and enter the destination country in the form. Hague status and receiving-authority requirements should be confirmed before filing.

Certified translation available

Do Florida Business Documents Need Certified Translation?

The Florida apostille process does not decide the foreign authority's language requirements. The receiving bank, registry, regulator or attorney may request translation of the corporate record, the apostille certificate, or both.

Corporate Record Translation

Certified translation of Articles, certificates, resolutions, agreements or other requested company records.

Apostille Translation

The receiving authority may also request translation of the attached apostille certificate.

Correct Order of Steps

Confirm whether translation should happen before or after apostille and whether notarization is required.

Certified translation is available separately. We speak English, Spanish and Russian. Apostille Center USA is a Corporate Member of the American Translators Association; membership does not mean ATA certifies or approves individual translations.

Frequently asked questions

Florida Business Document Apostille FAQ

Straight answers about certified copies, Sunbiz records, notarization, other states, pricing and international use.

How do I apostille a business document in Florida?

First identify whether the document is a Florida public corporate record or a private business document. Obtain the required certified copy or proper Florida notarization, confirm the destination country, and submit the eligible original to the Florida Department of State. Our service reviews and files the document through Tallahassee.

Can Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization be apostilled?

Yes, eligible Florida Articles can be apostilled. An ordinary Sunbiz printout is generally not enough; the Florida route normally requires an original certified copy issued by the Division of Corporations.

Can a Florida Certificate of Status be apostilled?

Yes. It is an official corporate record commonly requested for foreign registration, banking and compliance. Confirm whether the receiving authority requires a recently issued certificate.

Is a Certificate of Status the same as a Certificate of Good Standing?

Certificate of Status is Florida's official term for the Sunbiz record commonly used to confirm an entity's status. Foreign authorities may use the phrase Certificate of Good Standing. Confirm the exact record they accept.

Does a business document need to be notarized before apostille?

Not always. State-certified corporate records generally follow the public-record route. Private documents such as resolutions, agreements or bylaws may require a complete Florida notarial certificate and the original notary signature, stamp and seal.

Can I apostille a Sunbiz PDF or online printout?

An ordinary database printout is not a certified copy. A Certificate of Status ordered through Sunbiz and a certified copy issued by the Division of Corporations are different from an informational printout. Upload the complete file for review.

Can Florida apostille a business document from another state?

Florida ordinarily authenticates Florida public signatures and qualifying Florida notarizations. A corporate record issued by another state generally needs the apostille process of that issuing state.

Can resolutions, bylaws or operating agreements be apostilled?

They may qualify through a notarized-document route when properly signed and notarized in Florida. Eligibility depends on the document, notarial certificate and receiving authority's requirements.

How much does a Florida business document apostille cost?

Standard starts at $89 and Priority at $175 for one eligible, ready-to-file Florida business document. Retrieval, Certificate of Status orders, notarization, corrections, translation, international shipping and consular legalization are separate when needed.

How long does a Florida business document apostille take?

Planning estimates are about 4–6 weeks for Standard and about 2 weeks for Priority. Timelines may vary with document readiness, state processing, holidays, mailing and delivery conditions.

Do I need an apostille for every corporate document?

Only the receiving authority can specify which documents require separate apostilles. Ask it for a written checklist when possible.

What if the destination country is not a Hague country?

A non-Hague destination may require state authentication followed by federal or embassy/consular legalization. Enter the destination country before filing.

Do Florida business documents need certified translation?

The foreign authority may request translation of the corporate document, the apostille certificate, or both. Certified translation is available separately.

Can you obtain a certified copy or Certificate of Status for me?

Retrieval may be available after review and is quoted separately. Provide the exact entity name, Sunbiz document number and requested corporate record.

What should I upload for the free review?

Upload every page, including certification, signature, notary and attachment pages. Include the destination country and the foreign authority's request. Do not mail the original until you receive an Order ID and instructions.
